Re-EntryYou know that feeling you get when you accomplish something you didn’t think you could do, or you traveled somewhere magical, or you had a mind-blowing aha moment?

Maybe you just finished your first road race, or you had a mystical experience at Machu Picchu, or you sat next to a stranger on a plane and walked away with a new best friend.

Whatever that experience is for you (maybe there have been many), you recognize it because something in you shifted. LIFE with a capital L suddenly made sense and and you knew yours would never be the same again.

You know that feeling? Me too.

It’s where I’m at after spending the past four days in Arizona with the ever-inspiring, ever-funny Martha Beck and 300 fellow coaches for a coaching summit. Though I learned a ton about coaching, my business, and myself, the most powerful part of the weekend for me was getting to hang with this amazing tribe who share the same values of hope and love and compassion and personal growth as I do. We’re talking one big positive energy, hug-filled love fest. Something in me shifted.

And now? Now I’m home, a.k.a. the “real world,” because the real world is where I live.

It’s the world that’s full of overflowing email inboxes, bad drivers, and a ridiculous to do list, not to mention people who aren’t necessarily the positive-energy-hug-filled-love-fest kind.

So the question I’m asking myself is, how can I stay in the place of the positive shift?

Because let me tell you, it’s good place to be. It’s so much more calm and trusting. It’s a place of possibility and excitement, not of worry or stress. And when I’m in this place, I can handle pretty much anything life has to throw at me, because I can really live my mantra: everything happens for a reason.

I’d like to say I’ll do it by waking up at the crack of dawn to meditate or something, but I just don’t see that happening (I’m so not a morning person). Or maybe I could create some simple ritual around reading a certain book or listening to a certain song or lighting a favorite candle every day.

But I know me, and I know how the busyiness of life – writing, working, being a mom, being a friend, exercising, cooking, doing laundry, and on and on – can sometimes swallow me up.

So while I love this place of the positive shift, I don’t want to get all caught up in worrying about how to hold onto it. Instead, I’m going to simply enjoy every delicious moment of being IN IT right now. And when my re-entry into the real world starts getting bumpy, I’ll try to remember to slow down, breathe, and focus on being grateful.

Lastly, I’m going to find ways to remind myself to look for beauty everywhere in my life, because there is beauty in everything.

That I think I can do.
